  I just got to hear this little boy say my name for the first time. The child I saw be born, my best friends son, my Taco and my Jude. He calls me Nanny Nim instead of Auntie Em but I literally shrieked with joy. I love him so much.

  I find you in the oddest places, in the cupboard hiding in the only cup i reach for, under my kitchen table, in the last drops of water that fall from my shower and hit the ground with an inaudible explosion.  I’ve been trying to lose you.  Any melody that rolls through my ears brings a picture of you, and i don’t even have to close my eyes to see it but i do anyway, and your head is thrown back and you’re laughing, you’re laughing at me and the wrinkles under your eyes never fit someone so well.  They ask me how i did it, how i got you and you got away.  They ask me why I don’t do something, why I’m giving up if it means so much, why I don’t tie your shoe laces together when you aren’t looking like you did to me.  An eye for an eye only works twice and in my mind, you’ve been blind for longer than I can remember.
